Jay has been part of Goldstar Gym since September 2013 and it's leading to his third year competing in the UKBFF (United Kingdom Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation) Men's Physique category. Having a full time job, training and dieting can take up a lot of time and effort but that's exactly what Jay makes possible!

“It is up to you how much you put in and
how much you get out, it's just a case of
how much you want to put in that makes
the difference. So many people think they
can just ‘get by’ and get the same results
as the guy doing everything possible.”

Contest weight: 185 lbs

“Since I started training and saying that I wanted to stand on the Olympia stage I would say less than 5 people have said I could. Everyone else said it's impossible or that I couldn't do it. It's not up to those people what I achieve, I control that and that's why I love this sport and love training.”

Why Men's Physique?

Before this category was created Jay wanted to become and compete as a bodybuilder. But the lifestyle of a bodybuilder did not suit him or his busy schedule. Yet when the men’s physique class was created he was advised to follow his dream of competing, in doing so he has worked on a routine of training and eating to fit around work. In the UKBFF competition Jay has done very well and even qualified in the men’s final twice representing his sponsors internationally!

But other than competing on stage, this is not the only motivation Jay has for becoming the best in his class. He looks up to Arnold, Sadik Hadzovic and Ryan Terry. Other than these three icons, training at Goldstar Gym surrounds him with people who share the same goals of creating the best body they can. We have many different types of people come through our doors who are not just bodybuilders and all of them share the same love for fitness and training.

 Full time job? Who cares…

Jay works a fulltime job and still manages to eat his meals and workout twice a day. What's your excuse?

06:30am - Fasted Training/Intra workout drink
08:00am - Post workout shake, Amino Acids, ALAs & Carbs
10:00am - Chicken & Rice
13:00pm - Beef & Sweet Potato
15:00pm - Chicken & Rice
17:00pm - Training Session/Intra workout drink/
18:30pm - Post workout Shake
19:00pm - Chicken, Rice & Vegetables
22:00pm - Amino Acids & Carbs

The workout routine is a mixture between strength and hypertrophy exercises. Jay also does periods of overreaching training on body parts he feel is the weakest to help improve on their strength and definition. Lucky for Jay, he can eat when he liked in the office. When travelling he always has his prepped meals at hand which are kept cool and fresh thanks to his Six Pack Bag.

Never sacrifice form and concentrate on contracting muscles. But always give your 100% and make sure you put time and attention into your workouts.

Future Goals?

Jay wants to get to the big stage, compete in the Olympia and won't give up till he gets there. Following on from this hopes he gets his pro card so he can continue doing something he is passionate about and show everyone at Goldstar he can be the best at what he does.
